Tony Hadland returns by popular demand to talk on “William Gill – Victorian Explorer and Spy” at 2.30pm in the United Church, Faringdon. Tony who is William Gill’s great, great nephew, tells the fascinating story of this courageous Victorian character. William Gill was an officer in the Royal Engineers who inherited a huge fortune and became a self-financed explorer and intelligence officer.
All members are welcome but visitors are required to contribute £1.50 for each visit. Some refreshments will be available.
U3A SUMMER LUNCH ON 3RD AUGUST AT 12.00 AT 19 COXWELL ROAD
The summer lunch will held at 19 Coxwell Road Faringdon, thanks to the continuing generosity of Steve and Jenny Braithwaite. All members are welcome to attend. Meat, fish and vegetarian options will be provided along with bread and a glass of wine or a soft drink. All those who attend are asked to provide either a salad or a dessert in a “ready-to- serve” dish which should be taken away at the end.
