We had two applications for the position of Vicar in the Badbury Group of Churches (Buscot, Coleshill, Eaton Hastings and Us).  Unfortunately one of them has now withdrawn having been made an offer in his home diocese.  

The remaining candidate will be interviewed by two representatives from each of the four parishes, Lord Faringdon as Patron of the Benefice, Bishop Colin and the Area Dean.  As part of this process there will be a Holy Communion service at Buscot church at 11 am, taken by Bishop Colin, at which the candidate has been asked to preach.  All parishioners are invited to attend this service so do come along if you are able.  You will be very welcome.

The interviews will be held after this service at Buscot House.  There is no pressure on us to appoint this time round and if we feel that they are not the right person for our Benefice we will start the process again.  It has been stressed to us that we need to wait until we find the person we all feel is right.

We hope to see many of you at Buscot at 11 am on Thursday.

Tuesday is Pancake Day, which is followed always by Ash Wednesday.

There will be a service at Coleshill this year at 7.30 pm at which the Revd Dick Whittington will officiate.

Everyone will be welcome to join in this Benefice Service.

We have recently received multiple reports of thefts from vehicles and thefts of number plates in Faringdon and the surrounding area, including Badbury Hill.

To help prevent becoming a victim of theft and to ensure that your car is not an appealing target for a thief. Thames Valley Police would advise you to remove any valuables from your vehicles at night or when not in use and follow these key steps:

• Ensure your car is always left locked and secure.
• Do not leave possessions in your vehicle, whether valuable or not. A thief wouldn’t know the bag left on the back seat only contains a gym kit for example.   
• Remove Sat Navs from your car, including the cradle and clean the suction mark from the window - a thief will expect to find it hidden in the glove compartment or under the seat.
• Do not leave valuables in your boot.
• Anti-tamper proof screws for number plates are available from vehicle accessory shops.

Please be vigilant when attending the local beauty spot car parks, consider your vehicle security and report any suspicious behaviour or vehicles to Thames Valley Police by calling 101.

It is with sadness that we heard of the death of Angela after a long illness whilst being cared for at Richmond Retirement Home in Letcombe Regis.  Angela and her husband Graham lived in our village for many years and were active in all village events.
​
The funeral will take place at 1.00 pm on Thursday 5th March, at the South Oxfordshire Crematorium.​
