Just a few tables left for Faringdon Writers next Book Fair on 23rd Nov. in the Corn Exchange Faringdon This event gains in popularity each year. So if you have published/self-published work you would like to make available/share with a wider audience then please get in touch as soon as possible.
Email [email protected] for further information. Tables are £12 each. No commission taken. On Saturday morning, starting at 9.30, some of our younger villagers will be sweeping the church path, clearing the way, ahead of the wedding taking place in the afternoon.
We thought we’d make this a fun event, and raise some money for the church roof fund at the same time. The kids will be knocking (gently) on local doors and asking (politely) if anyone would care to sponsor them – any pledge will help! 10 - 16 hours per week. Monday and possibly Friday each week (dependent on bookings) To change beds, a thorough clean of all lodges ready for next occupants, washing linen at the park or taking to nearest launderette, restocking each lodge ready for the next guests. The job would be ideal for a parent who has to take and fetch children from school as we can fit around these times and it would be definitely once a week, if not twice or even three times depending on booking requirements. Tasks required, to change and wash linen at the lodges, clean between holiday lets and ensure that lodges are ready for the next holidaymakers. Sarah Oliver and myself are organising Fridays and are looking for helpers. We will be working from 9am - 5pm in the Catholic Church Hall in Faringdon, every Friday till and including 16th December and then again till March. If you think you might have a few hours to spare on a Friday to help in anyway - being a friendly face when folk arrive, cooking, tidying up, book keeping, making a cake, bringing a friend along, then please be in touch and join us. Does anyone have a cold frame that Jane could use to nurture the young plants she is growing for the Art Weeks plant stall? She is also looking for square pots and the plastic base trays that hold four or six square pots. Please contact Jane Holmes on 241367 or at Foxley. I am interested if anyone has any spare pieces of plastic guttering, in black if possible, about 2 to 3m sections.
Also if anyone has any old water butts they don’t need. Does anyone have any old spare 6 or 8 cell bedding plant trays please? Some friends of ours in nearby Uffington a want to convert a bedroom to a bathroom and are seeking recommendations for reputable local architects and builders for the work.
