Are you interested in learning about Yoga but don't know where to start?

Join Rachel for a 5 week beginners Yoga course on Mondays at The Ranch in Great Coxwell. This course will start on September 6th @ 6:30PM.

Movements will be supported with props such as chairs and bolsters to make the practice more accessible.

This course includes a 20 min phone consultation so I know what adjustments to the practice will be needed for each student.

Contact Rachel Wannerton on 07928583879 or [email protected] to book your place or ask any questions you may have.

I hope to practice with you soon.

-Rachel

P.S- Yoga is for everybody, you don't have to be flexible to start practicing!

St Giles Church - Harvest Festival

29/8/2021

Saturday, 25th September – Barbecue at the Vicarage 5pm

This is for all villagers to come and join Maureen for a sociable evening.

It would be useful to have an idea of numbers for catering purposes for this free event, so perhaps you could let me know if you intend to come ([email protected] or 01367 241632).

I shall send out a reminder nearer the time, but please put it in your diaries and come and join in.

Great Coxwell ‘Deep Cleanse’

23/8/2021

The South & Vale Waste Team will be in Great Coxwell for 3 days from 21 to 25 October to carry out a ‘deep cleanse’. This consists of litter picking, sweeping and removing weeds/moss from pavements. They will not spray weeds, cut grass or vegetation or remove weeds or moss on roads. This work will not include footpaths or right of ways as these are the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council.

They are willing to accommodate our requests for areas we feel that they should concentrate on and have provided a table to collate these and to list their relative priorities which is attached. If anyone has any suggestions, would you please use this table and return it to me at [email protected]. I’ll collate the replies and send the table to the South & Vale Waste Team.

Could you please send your suggestions to me by Wednesday, 8th September.

Thanks very much, Mike Harris

St Giles Church

21/8/2021

Dates for your diaries

This Sunday, 22nd August – Morning Prayer at 9am

The following Sunday, 29th August – Harvest Festival and Holy Communion at 10.30

Our Harvest Festival is earlier than usual and coincides with the Feast of the Dedication of St Giles (so we will have a double celebration). If you have produce you would like to contribute to decorate the church for this service, please bring it to the church either on Friday, 27th or Saturday, 28th.  It will be most welcome.

As we cannot hold our usual Harvest Lunch in the Reading Room there will be a Ploughman’s Lunch after the service at the Vicarage for those attending.  Do come and join us to celebrate the good things we have around us.

Looking forward to seeing as many people as possible at all these events.

Postman Paul

21/8/2021

Hi all,

After speaking to people around the village we thought it would be nice to get together a personal card for the Postman Paul with all the dogs of the village on for him to remember his time here! As he was such a favourite of theirs! If you would like your dog to feature please could you send a picture to [email protected] before Sunday 27th August and I shall try to put one together!

Best wishes,

Fiona Watters

Fund raising for St. Giles (Easyfundraising.org.uk)

21/8/2021

Dear all,

Everybody can join in with helping the church raise some funds. I hope you yourself have heard of these people, if not please look them up, they do wonders for raising funds for good causes. The system is easy - if you buy things on the net, you go into easyfundraising first, call up the charity you want to support - in this case our church - and then carry on shopping with the myriads of organisations that have pledged their support to it. The rewards vary from straightforward money per purchase to percentages etc. Look for yourself and you will see. how it works!

Many thanks, Mike

Lots of crows - need more scaring

18/8/2021

Save the Day: Sunday, 24th October 2021

Thanks to all those that have let us know they’ll be making scarecrows for the trail, we need some more to make the event worthwhile so if you would like to join in please let me know at [email protected] by 31st August 2021.

If you are not sure what to do or how it works there are some great ideas to be found on Google (https://www.google.com/search?q=scarecrow%20trails) – think about what you might make and where to put your scarecrow.

As this is the first of what we hope will become a regular event, we're suggesting a donation of £5 to cover admin and raise money for the WI.

More information on how to take part will follow soon.

Thanks,
Chief Scarer
