GREAT COXWELL ART WEEKS

31/5/2025

I would like to thank everyone of you who contributed to yet another successful Art Weeks in our lovely Village. Many of you made cakes and worked a shift in our pop up cafe. Others contributed items of food or made a cash donation  for us to buy various items of food for the Cafe.
We were very lucky with the weather, staying dry both weekends and therefore had a constant stream of visitors to the Art Weeks exhibition and our Pop Up Cafe. We now have regular visitors who come every year to support the Artists and come to enjoy the wonderful food in our cafe (their words -not mine).
This year we took a total of £2735 and covered all our expenses with the Cash Donations   we received. The only Bill we have to pay is the Reading Room Hire. This means that we are able to pay £2500+ to the Community Fund.
The Community Fund monies are all spent within the Village. If you wish to set up a group we are happy to support you. This year has seen an Art Group set up and a monthly Men's Night.
If you have any ideas of something you would like to see in the Village and need help please contact one of the Community Fund Group. On this note I would like to wish a fond farewell to Annabelle who is leaving us and was one of the Founder Members of Art Weeks & The Community Fund. She will be sadly missed.
Thank You all once again and without you all it would not  be the great success it continues to be.
Pam

Contemplation Garden and St Giles

9/5/2025

Picture
The Vicar is delighted to report that an interpretation board has been installed at St Giles. It gives a colourful invitation to enjoy the church and its landscape setting including the wildlife contemplation garden. The artwork was donated by local artist Christine Purdy and the design work by Dale and Sarah of Juicy Designs at Olde Willows. Richard Smith and Dale have installed it.

St Giles and the Contemplation Garden welcomes visitors throughout Art Weeks.

Art Weeks Pop-up Cafe

29/4/2025

"Art Weeks" is happening on:

  • 10th & 11th May
  • 17th & 18th May

As usual we are looking for people to help us in our pop-up cafe in the Reading Room and to bake lots of cakes. We are looking to cover 34 shifts and we need 40 cakes.

Money raised is paid into the Community Fund. This money is all spent on various projects for the benefit of the Village. Over the past few years we have raised over £22,000.

This year we have spent money painting the railings of the Reading room, a new kitchen floor, planting the flowerbeds, supporting the new Art Group, Men's Night and the The Christmas Fayre.

If you are able to work a shift, bake a cake or give a donation of food please contact Pam on 01367 240233 / 07443 636497 or email [email protected]

It is fun but we need your help!

Thanks
Pam

Art Weeks Café

5/6/2024

We would like to thank all of you who contributed to Art Weeks in our Village, including the many talented Artists who make this possible and choose to exhibit here in Great Coxwell.

The Pop Up Café was once again a resounding success and without you the people who worked the shifts, made cakes and donated food or money to buy food this would not be possible. Not forgetting also those of you who came and had either Lunch or  Teas & Coffees.

All the money raised from the Café goes into our Village Community Fund and we are pleased to say that we have made over £2000 profit from our endeavours.

This fund is accessible to all people who live in the Village so if you have any new ideas for a new club or project that would enhance our Village please get in touch with the Committee. We are here to support you to get started.

Once again Many Thanks for your continued support.

Pam & Pauline

Art Weeks

21/5/2023

I would like to say a huge Thank You to those of you who baked, donated food, gave a donation of money to buy food - this meant that we only had to take under £20 out of the takings to put towards food purchases and other expenses for the Café.

What an amazing display of cakes was a comment frequently heard.so well done all you talented cake makers.

For all of you that helped in our Pop Up Café we couldn't do it without you.

The weather was kind and we took an amazing £2600. From this we have a few expenses to deduct such as the hire of the Reading Room and we pay half of the cost for the Artists exhibiting. This will still leave us with a very healthy profit of over £2000.

All the money raised goes to the Community Fund. This in the past has enabled us to amongst others to buy new chairs for the Reading Room and a new carpet for the Church.

It has subsidised both the Queen's Jubilee and the Coronation for which the whole village was invited to a party in the Barn. A very nominal amount was charged ( to enable us to have an idea of numbers) with the rest coming out of the Community Fund.

This is your money, raised by the villagers so if you would like help to set up anything within the Village, please contact a member of the Committee- Annabelle, Pam, Pauline, Steve or Sylvia.

Many Thanks
Pam

Art Weeks

Art Weeks this year is taking place on the 7th & 8th and the 13th & 14th May

We need Helpers to serve in our pop up Café in the Reading Room and people to Bake Cakes.
Volunteers are needed for the 35 shifts in the Café and 40 cakes are needed for us to sell.
We are open from 11.30 am to 5 pm each day, serving Lunches, Cakes, Teas & Coffee.

This is the Village's main Fund Raising event in the year and all the money goes to the Village Community Fund which is only spent within the Village. We would hope to raise in the region of £2000 but we can only do this with the generosity and help of you the Villagers. If you haven't helped before please come and join us.

We have been raising money now for 16 years but we do need the input of new people to keep this viable.

Please Contact - Pam Smith on 240233 or email @ [email protected] and I can give you further details of what is required.

Many Thanks
Pam

Artweeks 2023

4/11/2022

Great Coxwell Artists would love to hear from any budding artists out there who would like to join us for Artweeks on 7th/(8th - depending on possible Bank Holiday) and 13th/14th May 2023. You would need to provide your own venue in the village - garden shed, conservatory, garage etc. as all our usual venues are full.

Registrations for Artweeks need to be in before the end of the year - hence why I'm sending this out so far in advance.

Oxfordshire Artweeks is an amazing month-long event with hundreds of art spaces open for free throughout the county. Great Coxwell Artweeks is renowned in the area, not just for the variety of wonderful art works but for the Reading Room Cafe with its loyal band of volunteers providing delicious coffees, lunches and teas. The plant stall and floral displays at the church are always popular too.

Please get in touch if you're interested and would like to know more - I look forward to hearing from you!

Artweeks

I would like to say a big thank you to all the people who supported Art Weeks, this is the main Fundraising Event for the Village and it was good to have it back.

A massive thank you to those who worked in the Café and also to those people who provided food, cakes and gave donations to buy food.

With all of your help this meant we kept our expenses down to under £100. This resulted in a net profit of £2425.25 which has been paid into the Community Fund.

Best  Wishes
Pam
