Urgent Action Needed

Please respond to Planning Application Land South of the Steeds

As there is now a Financial amendment to the original application P18/V0259/0, I wonder if the folk who made the original strong objections could reaffirm their views with, perhaps, a short additional note of objection to this latest attempt. These need to be submitted before 27th April, or asap.
Here are a few points others have pointed out:

STRONGLY OBJECT on the following basis:
  • The site is now in the parish of Great Faringdon; hence, the documentation needs to be updated to acknowledge its conformance with the Faringdon Neighbourhood Plan.
  • The Vale of White Horse has met its (now) three-year housing land supply and has no need for this development;
  • There is now a local surplus of housing in this area as evidenced by the low rate of sales on similar new estates in Faringdon and in neighbouring villages. This will be further exacerbated with development of 7,500 dwellings to the west of Swindon, eight miles away;
  • The original proposal for the whole site included several amenities which then withered away in subsequent proposals. This proposed application has little amenity and inadequate play provision;
  • The allocation of dwellings for the whole of this site, which includes that occupied by Fernhill Gardens, was 200; this has now been met.
  • The division of the original site was a ploy to propose a further development to meet the then unmet housing need in the Vale of White Horse; this is no longer required;
  • The site is not financially viable; therefore, not building it would seem to be the most financially prudent option.
  • Site does not protect the landscape setting of Great Coxwell

Press statement - Report of man impersonating a council officer to collect waste

Subject: Press statement - Report of man impersonating a council officer to collect waste
Date: 25 April 2019 at 14:51:16 BST

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are alerting residents after they received a report that a man, wearing a high visibility jacket and a false council ID badge, has been impersonating a council officer to provide a waste collection service.

The councils are urging all residents to be aware that their officers and waste crews would never knock on someone’s door and ask to take their rubbish away – even if they’ve pre-booked and paid for the councils to collect their bulky waste collection.

Homeowners must make sure their waste is disposed of legally.  If they choose to employ someone to remove waste, they must check they’re a registered waste carrier.  If they’re not and the rubbish is then dumped illegally, the homeowner could be issued a fixed penalty notice or prosecuted for the dumped waste despite not fly-tipping it themselves.

People can find out more about how the councils arrange bulky waste collections and how residents can stay legal when paying someone else to take rubbish away, on their websites www.southoxon.gov.uk/bulkywaste or www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/bulkywaste

Theft at the Great Barn

14/4/2019

0 Comments

At 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday the 13th) a white car was hanging around the barn, driving up and down the village. Tourists from Brackley were visiting the barn, their car window got smashed and their wallets were stolen.  These poor people are now waiting for  recovery as they cannot drive like that.  If anyone saw anything perhaps they could just send word out. This is not the first time this has happened. Could we all be more vigilant and take down registration numbers - especially around the barn, as the weather is getting warmer and people come into the village.
