GCPC Wednesday Open House Coffee on 19th October has now been cancelled. Hopefully things will be more back to normal by Wednesday 26th October.
Faringdon Town has put its efforts together to come up with a warm space five days a week where anyone can go to meet others, be part of the community, do activities, be warm, get information, make friends, volunteer, work and have food, all on a donation only basis.
Sarah Oliver and myself are organising Fridays and are looking for helpers. We will be working from 9am - 5pm in the Catholic Church Hall in Faringdon, every Friday till and including 16th December and then again till March. If you think you might have a few hours to spare on a Friday to help in anyway - being a friendly face when folk arrive, cooking, tidying up, book keeping, making a cake, bringing a friend along, then please be in touch and join us. Email [email protected] or message/call 07766 954 559. Thanks Annabelle (Zinovieff, Chapel House) In view of the prevalence of Covid infections, it has been agreed to suspend this week's Wednesday (12th Oct) Open House Coffee in the Reading Room. Next Open House Coffee will be on Wednesday 19th October.

Now there is a full stock at Green's Farm House again, left of the porch, please take as many as you would like,
As they are rather heavy to carry, I'll be glad to deliver. Just put a note through the porch door or send an email to [email protected] Our November meeting will be taken by Robbie Burns, talking about “Belonging to 2 Troop Falklands” in the Corn Exchange at 2:30PM. In 1982 Robbie led a troop of combat engineers in 1982 during the Falklands campaign. He recently wrote a book documenting his memories and those of former colleagues and their families. He will talk about his experiences from a first-hand perspective and provide some background information. His book also includes discussions with Veterans of the Falklands War who are still struggling to come to terms with their experiences.
All members are welcome to attend and to enjoy the refreshments afterwards. Visitors are also welcome but are required to contribute £1.50 towards the cost. NB Please note that all attendees are required to be in good health and to be up-to-date with their COVID vaccinations. If in doubt please stay at home. Martin Lloyd will talk on Becoming a Famous Author in the Faringdon Corn Exchange at 2.30pm on 13th October. Martin has returned by popular demand – he is an accomplished speaker across the country, and has published more than 10 books on a variety of topics. In this talk he will step by step expose what he had to do to get his first book published. Prepare to be shocked, amazed and amused!
Refreshments are available after the talk. All members are welcome, but visitors are required to pay £1.50. Please be in good health but stay at home if you are uncertain. A reminder to everyone that the postponed Harvest Festival and Harvest Lunch will take place on Sunday next, 9th October.
As we have a concert in the church on Friday evening, can you please bring any produce or other goods that you would like to donate to decorate the church to the church on Saturday morning. All dry goods (tins, packets, etc) will be donated to the Faringdon Food Bank and edible produce will go to the Faringdon Baptist Church for the lunches they provide. If you have already indicated that you are coming to the Harvest Lunch, I will be contacting you in the next day or so to confirm whether you are still coming. If you were not able to come last time, but would now like to join us, please let me know - 241632 or [email protected]. We hope you will be able to join us to celebrate this milestone of the country year. Pat |
