Kind regards Billie Hayter Cinema Supervisor, Faringdon Town Council Dear Coxwellers, Great and Little,
As many of you might know, we’re getting married this Saturday, 25 June, in the Great Barn and we’d like to invite any friends from the village(s) to pop in and share some of the fun! You’d be really welcome, either for the wedding itself or for the barn dance in the evening. The marriage is at 2.30pm in the Barn. It’s a Quaker meeting, so it’s based on silent worship with spontaneous contributions and will last about an hour. This will be followed by tea, cake and a few outside games if it's dry (can anyone from Little Coxwell loan us a Smite set?!). In the evening, after a dinner for close friends and family, we’ll be having a barn dance from 8.00pm so if you would like to join us to strip the willow it would be fun to see you! If you're able to bring a fold up chair to the meeting, or a bottle to the dance that would be great – but we aim to have enough to go round so don't let that put you off. The evening will finish at 11pm, the music won’t be too loud, and there will be parking in the field opposite the Barn (with thanks to the Liddiards). Really hope to see some of you then! With best wishes to all, Richard (Benwell) & Sophie (Stainer) (currently of Fletcher's Cottage, Great Coxwell, previously of 4 Grove Cottages, Little Coxwell!) Thank you all for coming and making it such a brilliant celebration. 3 umbrellas were left and are with the Tippings. A small tin bowl with red spots is missing - please contact us if you have it. Huge thanks to all who helped, we could not have done it without you.
There will be a concert at St Mary's church, Buckland, on Sunday 26 June 2016 at 3pm, featuring the Acacia Flute and Harp Duo. For more information, click here.
There is a meeting on Thursday 14 July 2016 in the Faringdon Corn Exchange at 2.30pm. The topic will be “A Voyage around Great Britain”, involving art, history and travel. This describes a journey on horseback around the entire coast of Great Britain made by the artist William Daniell RA. Daniell is acknowledged to have been a very successful painter in oils and water colours. Refreshments will be available after the talk. Members are all welcome but visitors will be required to make a financial contribution. Further information from the chairman Peter Smith on 01367 241 241 or on the website – www.faringdondistrictu3a.wordpress.com.
Advance notice - our summer party will again be held, thanks to the continuing generosity of Steve and Jenny Braithwaite, at their home on Thursday 4 August. More details to follow nearer the time. |
