From the farmer

20/4/2023

Note from Andy the farmer at Colleymore Farm:

Morning.

It’s a difficult spring to be a farmer! Just to let you know that we’ve had to adjust plans to try and work around how wet everything is . So in Siberia, where the sheep recently grazed, we’re going to plant a multi-species crop, and, weather permitting, under sow that with clover, before planting trees in the autumn. As discussed previously with Annabelle from greener Coxwell, we’ve requested funding support for north-south rows of fruit and nut trees every 36m.

Will keep you updated.

Isle of Wight Challenge in Memory of Emma Watters in Aid of the Tessa Jowell Brain Tumour Foundation

17/4/2023

Many of you will remember my dear wife Emma who passed away in March 2021.

Our daughter Fiona has persuaded Emma's family and friends to take on various parts of the Isle of Wight Challenge over the weekend of 28/29th April. Fiona has the biggest challenge, running the full 106km circuit of the Isle of Wight over two days. The rest of us are doing either 25km or 50km running or walking.

Our goal is to raise £5000 for the Tessa Jowell foundation which aims to level up brain tumour treatments across UK hospitals . Emma followed Tessa's journey with her brain tumour closely and so we have been inspired to do what we can to help the foundation.

For  everyone in the village who knew and loved Emma we would be extremely grateful if you would consider donating to this worthwhile cause in her memory and help us reach our target.

Fi Watters is fundraising for The Tessa Jowell Foundation - Prism the Gift Fund (justgiving.com)

Thank you in anticipation

Dear all,

We are very excited to have Manus Noble back at Stonevale.  He has been here twice over the years and am grateful that he was happy to come back, as he has a very busy concert schedule.  Please find our flyer as well as his biography attached, no need for me to say anymore.

Best wishes,
Lynette

Repair Café

12/4/2023

Picture
The Repair Café in Faringdon, run by The Pump House Project, managed to salvage and repair 42kgs of items from being retired to landfill in a single session at the start of the month. Now located in the United Church on Coxwell Street with plenty of adjacent parking it is even easier to access. Experts can try to restore to working order everything from huge flat screen TVs, vintage Kenwoods to adjustable walking sticks. Two thirds of all the broken items brought in on the last event are now back in working order. The next café is on the 22nd of April but it will become a regular feature in the town diary. Saving pennies and saving the planet while you have a lovely coffee.
