To comment (and to read the Parish Council's response) please see our planning applications page.
There is another planning application that requires our response. The planning department have been very dismissive of applications where only a handful of parishioners have objected so it is vital as many as possible comment on this application.
Of course you can express any views you wish to but if you would like to object and want a few pointers ...... here are a few:
This settlement would be an isolated hamlet unconnected to either Faringdon or Great Coxwell, without a footpath, cycle path or safely reachable bus connection.
It is a speculative site not recognised in the Great Coxwell Neighbourhood Plan or VWHDC Local Plan as land for housing. It is in the designated 'Green Buffer' area of Great Coxwell identified by our Neighbourhood Plan to preserve and enhance the rural environment of the parish and prevent coalescence with Faringdon. This enlarging of build area is contrary to our NP.
All the reports done by the developers are either out of date or irreverent because they are for a business site rather than residential.
This development would significantly harm the views from the grade 1 listed St Giles Church and to the White Horse Hill.
The site is an isolated pocket, disconnected from anything other than the fast A420. This stretch of the highway has no footpath or cycle path and is totally unsuitable for access on foot or anything other than a car. There are no footpaths leading from this site in any direction.
No consultation has taken place with the village. Great Coxwell is the nearest village and it is in our parish. We have had no indication any developer contributions are being offered to the infrastructure and facilities.
This application does not protect the sensitive natural habitats surrounding the site.
Proper assessments and surveys have not been done on this site.
If you go on the Vale White Horse District Council site you will find comments by the statutory bodies that are interesting and helpful.
