NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

All about safety and security in our village

Scroll Down

Great Coxwell is a Neighbourhood Watch parish. This means that all of us look out for the safety and security of everyone, and share concerns. One of the parish councillors is the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator. They attend periodic Neighbourhood Action Group meetings with local Wantage and Faringdon based police officers, where particular issues can be discussed with the police in greater detail.

What you can do to help:
  1. Make sure the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator has your email address, or the email address of a neighbour or family friend who can contact you, so that we can tell you if a crime has taken place that you should know about.
  2. If you notice something that might involve criminal activity, ring the NW officer if it is happening right now (in an emergency ring 999 first).
  3. If criminal activity has taken place (for example, if you have experienced a theft or break-in) or if something has happened that you are concerned about, please note down the date, time, place, and name and number of the witness and contact the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator. Email is best because email messages can be passed on quickly and accurately.
  4. Find out if you have neighbours who are not on email and offer to share messages with them (for example I shall be sending regular messages from Thames Valley Police about telephone and door-step scams that they may not be aware of).

From time-to-time, we shall publish information about recent crimes and crime prevention that may be helpful to local residents and businesses, for example from Thames Valley Alert.  So please keep your eye on our News and Blog pages.
