I have arranged for the benefit of village residents three drop-in sessions open for all to attend free demonstrations and an opportunity to learn life-saving skills valuable for the whole family at home, work or out and about at leisure in the community.
You are invited to drop-in to any one of the three sessions for which the timings will be:
0930 - 1030 / 1100 - 1200 / 1230 - 1330. After clear-up the room will close at 2.00pm.
Each of these one hour sessions will comprise of demonstrations covering all three of the subject areas below, and if you wish to 'have a go', an opportunity to learn the essential and life-saving skills comprising of:
- Basic Life Support/CPR and use of the Automated External Defibrillator.
- Dealing with Severe Choking and relief of Airway Obstruction.
- Dealing with a Wound and Severe Bleed.
There will be an opportunity at the end of each session for any questions to be answered and subject to confirmation, for refreshments to be available through the day. I am grateful to our Parish Council for their support in using the Reading Room and to our Community Fund Trustees, in covering the cost of hire, for the benefit of this village wide event.
Please note - the maximum capacity of the Reading Room at any one session will be 50. If demand exceeds capacity over the three sessions when you attend, consideration will be given to running further sessions on a future occasion.
While your participation in these sessions will be at no cost to you, there will be an opportunity to make a donation, if you wish, on the day and any funds collected will be equally divided between the charities of www.sca-charity.org.uk that supports the resources, training and equipment provided for us as your local Volunteer Community First Responders (we are not funded through the NHS) - and another of our essential 'Out of Hospital' care providers www.tvaa.org.uk (Thames Valley Air Ambulance) - who provide life-saving early response with the use of 'HELIMED 24' and the Critical Care Response Cars to attend the most 'Life-Threatening' incidents in our local communities and when required, our own village!
I look forward to your attendance and support for this event and hope that you will take this opportunity towards learning some of the essential first aid skills to keep you, family and friends safe and towards the resilience of our great community of Great Coxwell.
Please feel free to contact me on #WhatsApp/07796 572752/01367 243404 - if you have any questions concerning arrangements on the day - The Reading Room has 'accessible' entrance arrangements - Please ask if you will need assistance on entry.
(Please remember to call 999/112 - Fire - Police or Ambulance to initiate a response in the event of emergency. As in event of an incident effecting you, I may be available on an 'incidental' basis but not 'On-Call' and therefore not available to be mobilised by the ambulance service).
