On Sunday September 8th, we will be celebrating our annual Feast of Dedication at the 10.30am Family Communion service. This is the occasion when we think of our patron saint, St. Giles, of all the generations of people who have helped to care for our church over many centuries, and of the church's historic place in the community. There will be refreshments in the vicarage after the service.
This will also be my last service at Great Coxwell before I retire. My last service in the Badbury Group of Churches will be the Benefice Communion service at 10.30am at Eaton Hastings on September 29th, and if you are planning to come to that service, could you let me know please - as space will be quite tight. I should perhaps add that I will still be living in the village until mid-November, though not functioning as parish priest after the end of September.
The next issue of our church newsletter, The Badbury Bugle will shortly be circulated as usual to all homes in the parish, and I have included in this, my last issue, some reflections on the past eight years and some thoughts for the future. It has indeed been a happy and fruitful time, and I shall be sorry to leave.
